At Shodokan Aikido York we aim to have fun whilst teaching the authentic Aikido learned directly from Tetsuro Nariyama Shihan, Technical Director of the Japan Aikido Association. He was the principle student of Kenji Tomiki who founded sports Aikido and was, in turn, a senior student of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba.

Aikido is great for improving self confidence and learning self defence whilst keeping healthy.

Books

Nariyama shihan's new book Aikido Randori is out. Get it here. This is the recommended text if you want a book to help with your training. Scott Allbright's book Aikido and Randori is worth getting as well.

Weapons

If you own a bokken or a jo, you must be familiar with the BAB Weapon Protocol especially the part about the transport of such from home to the dojo. Note that no weapons whatsoever apart from either a wooden bokken or a wooden jo will be admitted in the dojo. Our tantos are foam and therefore not classed as weapons.

Club forms

Both the disclaimer form and the membership form must be filled in by all club members.

Nota bene, it is the members responsibilities to update their details with the instructors. You can download Sumatra, a free PDF reader or Libre Office to view the above files.
